Health and wellness coaching is an active, supportive, and trusting relationship between you and the coach that empowers you to define, reach, and sustain your goals. It helps you find your motivation for positive changes you want to seek out through action, learning, and growth, while navigating life’s challenges.
Anyone can benefit from coaching, especially for those who want to make sustaining lifestyle changes such as improving your eating habits, incorporating movement into your life, facing a life transition, etc. It helps to have someone who listens intently, and who understands fully your needs and desires for change with acceptance and without judgment. A coach is your ally, acts as your cheerleader, and supports you through these changes. For coaching to be successful, be prepared to challenge yourself and to be honest with yourself. As a result, you will find coaching very rewarding and fulfilling. It’s an invaluable life investment!
Sessions can be conducted over the phone, by Skype/FaceTime, or in person, whichever is the most convenient for you.
I offer a 20-minute complimentary session via telephone or Skype. If you decide after the session that you are ready to dig deeper and are ready to make a new beginning in your life, we can discuss a package that best suits you personally. Depending on your needs, it can take 3 months to see positive results.
How long is each session?
Sessions are 45-50 minutes.
The discovery session is a time that we use to get to know each other and determine whether you are comfortable with the coaching relationship. We go over forms, discuss what you would like to get out of the coaching sessions, and I answer any questions you may have.
During each subsequent session, we discuss your agenda and I listen intently and ask insightful questions. I give you tools to help you with any obstacles to your moving forward, and assign homework which will give you more insight, including setting goals and designing a wellness plan. At the beginning of the next session, I will ask you about your week and we’ll review your homework and celebrate successes, in addition to exploring any obstacles you encountered during the week. We can determine then whether we need to adjust your goals and set new ones.
The coaching relationship is a partnership between the coach and you. In coaching, the sessions are directed by you and you are viewed as an expert in your life. In therapy, the therapist is viewed as the expert and may give advice. In coaching, the coach does not give psychological diagnosis and advice, and the sessions are focused mainly on finding your motivation to make lasting lifestyle behavioral changes benefiting you now and in the future.
The coaching sessions are strictly confidential and I will not divulge any information unless you present as a physical danger to yourself or others. Please be aware, however, that unlike conversations with a lawyer or physician, the confidentiality of our conversations are not protected by law if I were ever compelled to testify about them in a court of law.
